Description
Raloxifene is a medication primarily used to prevent and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Each tablet contains 60mg of Raloxifene, and the package includes 30 tablets.
This medication belongs to a class of drugs called selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs), which work by mimicking the effects of estrogen in some parts of the body while blocking its effects in others. In the case of Raloxifene, it acts as an estrogen agonist on bone tissue, helping to increase bone density and reduce the risk of fractures.
In addition to its effects on bone health, Raloxifene has been shown to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or at high risk of breast cancer. It does so by blocking estrogen receptors in breast tissue, thereby inhibiting the growth of estrogen-sensitive tumors.
As with any medication, it’s important to take Raloxifene exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider and to discuss any potential side effects or concerns with them.
